Painting the Exterior…so fresh and so clean clean

Ross and I planned a date night. We needed date night ideas outside of the stereotypical going to dinner. We have about two date nights per year, against our therapist’s good advice. It was super warm out and we were wanting to get the rental painted…so we used our date night to paint. How bad are we at romance, for real!? So we dug out our crappiest clothes…well I dug out some crap clothes and Ross wore his standard. 😉 but Ross always looks hot in his standard…I think he was once called the best-looking man in North Dakota…by some drunk missus in a bar. #eyeroll #howifeelaboutthat #ndgirlsaren’tshy

Ross bought a new paint gun that he’s been dying to shoot, so we fired up the Graco Magnum Project Pro and went to town. It was windy as hell so it wasn’t the easiest of tasks. We had to tape off the freshly painted roof and that actually took up the most time – the painting itself went pretty fast.

We painted all of the trim and fascia black.

For some odd reason Ross was really juiced about me manning the paint sprayer, which was not my idea of a good time. It requires superb balance as you lean every which way on the ladder twenty feet in the air, and if you hesitate for one second (and I love to stop and check my work) you are going to have a bad time. I attempted spraying three times and Ross was more frustrated than a cowboy with an unbroken horse. He kept saying “NOPE!” #lmfao If I was on his crew I would have been fired. Or at least verbally ridiculed. #ifyouwantitdoneright

The most terrifying moment of my life. Ignore the windpants.

I don’t think the paint drippings killed the project though- I told Ross I love to tape and I’ve been waiting my whole life to tape poly over roof fascia. I was pretty proud of my work…cuuuz I could stop and check it out whenever I gd wanted. I also got to touch up the new window trim by hand with a brush. That black paint really likes to bleed onto the white siding, especially when it starts getting dark…but my sweatshirt came in handy when my brush got out of control!

The garage is now bright white (yes, we bought a new garage door...check)

The house definitely looks crisper with new white paint – although it wasn’t terrible before. The garage looks a thousand times better because it matches the house now. We are in desperate need of a new garage door and of course we want to get all fancy, but we have to remind ourselves the garage door is not going to be the selling point of the house. #ohyoufancyhuh

The house painted crisp white. And, two thumbs up!! :)

Meanwhile I’m going to chill and pin fancy garage doors on Pinterest, because a girl can dream.
